I'm
certainly not a train spotter. Standing on the end of a station platform
ticking off numbers in a notebook has always seemed fairly pointless to
me. I do however admit a slight fondness for steam locomotives themselves.
I'm not sure where it all began but I think that my affection for steam
trains may have something to do with my childhood holidays. On these occasions
I was always taken to Wales, and somehow we would find time during the
week to visit several of the narrow gauge railways that are liberally dotted
around that part of the country.
Since
those days my relationship with the railway has broadened out somewhat
as you will find out in this section.
